During 1904-05 Harris designed a grand hotel for a new mining town in Cape Breton, NS. The hotel and several other buildings were constructed, but subsequently the project went bankrupt and the town was never completed. This piece depicts the life of that hotel.

I. South Front Elevation
The first movement portrays Harris at his drawing board as he imagines the gardens, the drawing room, and the people that might dance in the ballroom.
II. East Elevation
Movement one flows without pause into the second movement which depicts a 1916 version of the building when it was used as a barracks for the 185th Cape Breton Highlanders during World War I. The sounds of the hotel are fiddles in the parlour and soldiers marching in the courtyard.
III. Forest Elevation
The last movement depicts the hotel as it exists now - an immense foundation reclaimed by nature. Echoes of past events and an artist’s grand vision drift on the wind blowing through rooms long gone.
